Sam + Eric: Camp Waziyatah Maine Wedding

January 20, 2019

Nowadays 100% of my couples come to me organically, which is an incredible blessing (and the result of almost 20 years of hard work!). They come from venues at which I am a preferred vendor, through past brides and other clients, through friends and family, couples I meet at my amazing gym (Seacoast Kettlebell in Dover!), through social media or online searches, from other professional photographers (this is the greatest compliment!), etc. Sometimes I am pleasantly surprised by the inquiries – people who pop up in my inbox and my face lights up and I think, “NO WAY! She’s old enough to be calling me about her wedding?!?” So, that seems to be happening more and more lately as I get older, which is one of the perks of getting older! Sam used to work with my husband back in/around 2010, fresh out of college. She seemed SO young to me at the time, especially as I was in the throes of early motherhood, just having given birth to my second daughter. Fast forward 7 years and of course Sam had grown into an adult woman: beautiful, smart, hardworking…and engaged! We got on the phone right away and my heart was so full talking with her about her life over the last several years, and her recalling the chubby arm rolls that Lola donned as a baby sure did pull on my heart strings!

We talked about Eric, the love of her life, and their dream wedding at Camp Waziyatah in Waterford, Maine (where Disney’s “Bug Juice” show was just filmed, fun fact – watch an episode HERE!). She shared their love story, stories of Bucky (their 3-legged pup who is named after a character from Captain America), and their plans for a long weekend of campfires and canoeing, dancing and partying at the beautiful lakeside camp! I knew immediately this was a perfect fit for both of us! The entire weekend was an absolute dream – and Sam will admit that they both worked hard to make it all happen – planning and coordinating your own wedding is not for the faint of heart! I started the weekend on Friday night photographing their post-rehearsal dinner lakeside campfire, spent the night at the lovely Lovell Inn, and arrived back at camp Saturday morning to capture it all! I start off the blog with my favorite, dreamy portrait of Sam and Eric alongside their fabulous invitations, then into highlights from Friday night and into Saturday! ENJOY! (PS you can read Sam’s review HERE – thank you Sam & Eric! XOXO)
